Egypt & South Africa Tour – October 21-November 4, 2017

Get ready for a special one-time itinerary and experience Africa from top to bottom. Start in Egypt with the Pyramids of Giza and a luxurious Nile River Cruise. After touring all throughout Egypt, fly down to South Africa to go on safari and look for animals. This is one adventure you don’t want to miss!

Included is: round trip airfare from New York City, all hotel accommodations, sightseeing as outlined in itinerary, meals listed in itinerary, ground transportation via deluxe coaches, and excellent English speaking guides.

Itinerary:

October 21 – Travel to New York City and board a non-stop flight to Cairo, Egypt.

October 22 – Welcome to Cairo, Egypt! For 5000 years, this country and culture has mystified and intrigued the world. Upon arriving, check in to your hotel for some much needed rest. (Dinner)

October 23 – Breakfast and transfer to the airport for our 65 minutes flight to Luxor… Upon arrival, visit to the valley of the Kings, Luxor. After lunch, visit the ancient capital of Thebes, the Luxor Temple. This grand temple complex includes the Great Temple of Amun with its Hypostyle Hall of 134 sandstone columns which are 80 feet high. Breathtaking!!! This evening visit the second temple complex on the banks of the Nile River, the Karnak Temple. This evening board your 5-star Nile river cruise ship. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

October 24 – This morning visit the west bank of the Nile. As you enter the Valley of the Kings you will be greeted by the Colossi of Memnon, which even overwhelmed the great Emperor Hadrian. In the Valley of the Kings you will have the chance to enter 3 grand tombs of the Pharaohs and see the burial chambers and glorious hieroglyphics on the walls to assist the dead into the afterlife. Enjoy a felucca boat ride on the Nile as you cross the river for lunch. This afternoon start sailing the Nile to your first visit of Edfu. Depart the ship and see the 2000 year old Grand Temple dedicated to the Sun God Horus. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

October 25 – On your journey on the Nile you will see life on the river as if you were 2000 years in the past. Water buffalo, sugar cane, palm trees and sand will be viewed on either side of the river. Suddenly you will arrive at a beautiful temple complex of Kom Ombo. After your visit here, enter a small boat to go up the cataracts of the Nile to have a camel ride and visit a small village of the Nubians. Here you will be treated like Pharaohs of old. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

October 26 – Early this morning depart for a drive out in the desert to see the greatest monument in Egypt, Abu Simbel. This was the first site on earth listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This great temple, dedicated to Ramesses was hewn out of the rock to the depth of 210 feet! Overwhelming! (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

October 27 – Breakfast and flight back to Cairo. This morning visit the Ancient capital of Upper Egypt, Memphis. View the great alabaster figure of Ramesses and the Alabaster Sphinx. Nearby visit the oldest pyramid complex of the ancient world, the step pyramid of Sakkara. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

October 28 – This morning start the day with a visit to the Great Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali and the great Citadel overlooking the City of the Dead. This is the largest and most breathtaking mosque in Egypt. Transport to the airport for our flight to South Africa. (Breakfast, Dinner)

October 29 – Morning arrival in Johannesburg. Transfer north to Kruger National Park area. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel to rest and relax. (Dinner)

October 30 – Breakfast at the hotel. Start the day with a beautiful panoramic tour including a view to God’s Window with its beautiful Waterfall. God’s Window majestic cliffs plunge over 1/2 mile to the Lowveld and the game reserves which have made the area one of Africa’s prime wildlife destinations. From this vantage point a 150 mile long rampart of sheer cliffs – opens a vista into a plush forest. On a clear day it is possible to see over the Kruger National Park towards the Lebombo Mountains on the border with Mozambique. This afternoon, get ready for your first safari experience on an afternoon/early evening game drive in Kruger Park. The animals are waiting! Dinner in the restaurant. October 31 – Begin today with free time and some optional activities. The afternoon features another game drive in magnificent Kruger National Park. (Breakfast, Dinner)

November 1 – Full day Safari in 4 x 4 vehicles with a professional game ranger. Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. It covers 7,332 sq mi and extends 220 mi from north to south and 37 mi from east to west. All the big five (lion, elephant, water buffalo, leopard, and rhino) are found here. Here we will experience the Africa that we have long dreamed of. (Breakfast, Dinner)

November 2 – Another full day exploring Kruger with its birds, rhinos, impalas, wildebeest, leopards, hippos and so much more. Dinner and overnight inside of Kruger National Park (Breakfast, Dinner)

November 3 – Transfer after breakfast to Johannesburg after a wonderful time in the outback of Africa. A scenic transfer will give you some time to relax after being on an exciting safari adventure. Your international flight back to the USA leaves later this evening. (Breakfast)

November 4 – Arrive back in New York this afternoon.

With a love for travel and serving, Val and Diane recently returned from a Mission to COSTA RICA where they were blessed to serve, explore, and grow to love every corner of this amazingly beautiful country! Prior to their mission they also had the opportunity to travel many times to Central America & Mexico to explore archaeological sites. They’ve loved their humanitarian trips to Kenya, the Amazon in Peru & Cambodia with ROTARY and YOUTHLINC.  Both retired, Val a Bank Executive and Diane an R.N., have been all over Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean, the Holy Land, Turkey, Egypt, New Zealand, China, Fiji, Iceland, and Vietnam.  Other passions include grand kids and shopping for Diane and ATVs, waterfalls, and kayaking for Val. They’ve never been on a cruise they didn’t like. Their next goal is a US road trip in their travel trailer.
