October 19 – Depart from Salt Lake City and fly to China!
October 20 – Continue flight and arrive into Xi’an, China this evening. Transfer to your hotel for a good night’s rest.
October 21 – You will be in awe as you visit the Terracotta Warrior museum. It has been said to be the most exciting archaeological find of the 20th century and considered as the 8th Wonder of the World. It is nothing short of astonishing! Stop at a local orphanage for a few minutes on the way back from the Terracotta Warriors to drop off some needed supplies. (Breakfast, Lunch)
October 22 – Your exciting day in Xi’an begins with a relaxing bike ride on the ancient city wall or you may wish to take a ride in a traditional rickshaw. Learn the legend as to how the Wild Goose Pagoda received its name as you visit this holy place revered for centuries. Your day will wind down as you enjoy the city water fountain show accompanied with orchestrated music. (Breakfast, Lunch)
October 23 – Today it is off to Yichang, China to board your beautiful river cruise ship that will set sail on the Yangtze River! Spend time exploring on board and getting settled into your cabin. A tasty welcome dinner will be waiting for you this evening. (Breakfast, Dinner)
October 24 – Included shore excursion to the work site of the Three Gorges Dam today. Ship passes though the 1st Gorge—-Xiling Gorge Shore excursion to Three Gorges Dam Site. Ship passes though the 5-steps ship locks. Captain’s Welcome Banquet. Optional excursion available to visit the Tribe of the Three Gorges today. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
October 25 – Shore excursion to Shennong Stream from 8:00 to 11:30. In the afternoon, an optional visit to White Emperor City will be arranged. Your ship will pass though the Wu Gorge and Qutang Gorge. Expect to see fantastic natural scenery. There are performances at night on the ship. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
October 26 – Shore excursion to Shibaozhai (08:00-11:00). Captain’s Farewell Banquet. Night on the Yangtze River-Gathering Party. Also an optional tour of Fengdu Ghost City later today. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
October 27 – Your cruise ends this morning in Chongqing. A tour of Chongqing is planned today before your flight to Beijing this evening. Overnight in Beijing. (Breakfast, Lunch)
October 28 – Today experience a Hutong Tour, and take a glimpse into the world of yesterday while being pedaled through the narrow streets on bicycle-pedaled rickshaws. You will see how neighborhoods in Old China existed and how they are preserved in the middle of a modern city today. (Breakfast, Lunch)
October 29 – Winding across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, the Great Wall of China stretches over 4,000 miles. Today as you experience climbing a section of the Great Wall, marvel at its size and grandeur. Not far from the wall you will explore the Ming tomb area and stroll down the path of the Sacred Way of the Animals. You will have plenty of time this evening to go bargain shopping at a local knock-off market where low price rules. Then, back to the hotel and it’s time for an optional foot massage. (Breakfast, Lunch)
October 30 – Today you will visit the Forbidden City which was built in the 15th century. The Forbidden City includes the Imperial Palace which was the residence of the emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Later you will walk on the 98-acre quadrangle of Tiananmen Square, which is one of the largest public squares in the world. This evening enjoy some free time or more shopping at the knock-off market. (Breakfast, Lunch)
October 31 – The Temple of Heaven is first on our agenda today and is located in a beautiful park. Elderly Chinese come by the thousands daily to exercise and to participate in Chinese cultural activities. Most tourists find themselves participating in the middle of these activities with the local Chinese. Today you’ll pay a visit to the Summer Palace which is listed as one of the world UNESCO World Heritage Sites and ranked as one of the finest classical gardens in the world. Nearby learn about China’s fresh water pearls and visit one of the largest pearl showrooms on the planet. If you get your shopping all done, enjoy an optional Chinese acrobatic show. You will be amazed at the acrobatic skills demonstrated in the performances. (Breakfast, Lunch)
November 1 – After breakfast, you will have some last minute free time for shopping or relaxing before the flight home. Your flight back to the USA leaves in the afternoon with an evening arrival. Welcome home!

Steve was born and raised in Brigham City, Utah. As a youth, his family did very little traveling other than camping trips to Yellowstone National Park. The world began to open up to him when he traveled to Europe at the end of his senior year in high school with a group of drama students. For six weeks they performed the play, The Miracle Worker, at locations in Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland and England. He decided then that the world was a very beautiful and he later served an LDS mission to the island of Taiwan. While there, he learned to speak fluent Mandarin and to really love the Chinese people.
Steve later married his high school sweetheart, Janet Hansen. They are residents of Kaysville, Utah, and are the parents of five children and currently have eleven grandchildren. Steve graduated from Utah State University with a degree in business and has enjoyed a career as a financial planner for over forty years. During that time, he and Janet have had the opportunity to travel to dozens of beautiful and interesting places throughout the world and are always fascinated with each place they explore.
