The Pearls of the Danube Plus Prague – April 18-29, 2018

One of the best ways to see Europe is by boat on a luxurious river cruise.  Sit back and relax on the Danube river as you sail through the picturesque countryside of Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.  The beauty of a river cruise is that the ship is small and intimate with only 170 guests and all of your food and most drinks on the ship are included! Itinerary:

April 18 – Fly from your home city to Los Angeles and board an afternoon flight to Europe!

April 19 – Vienna – Arrive in Vienna today and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Vienna.

April 20 – Linz – The morning is yours to relax and enjoy Vienna. In the afternoon we will be transferring to Linz to board your Danube River cruise ship! A welcome dinner awaits you as you set sail this evening. (Cruise Meals)

April 21 – Vienna – We’ll arrive in Vienna early in the morning where you will enjoy a visit to Schoenbrunn Palace, former summer residence of the imperial family, and tour of part of Vienna.
This afternoon, enjoy some free time or join us for a visit to Hofburg Palace. In the evening, we’ll tour Vienna by night. We’ll begin to cruise during the night to our next destination. (Cruise Meals)

April 22 – Budapest – The morning will be spent cruising. This afternoon you’ll discover the city of Budapest with a knowledgeable guide. This beautiful city was once two distinct cities that united only in 1873.
Enjoy an evening of “operetta music” on board. (Cruise Meals)

April 23 – Budapest & The Puszta – Enjoy a free day in Budapest or join us for a guided excursion to the Puszta, the Pannonian steppe grasslands (typical regional lunch included). Also called the Great Plain, this vast prairie was the once the wild west of Hungary, and immense herds of livestock grazed here under the watchful eye of the cowboys. Dinner will be served on board. Our ship will cruise through the night. (Cruise Meals)

April 24 – Bratislava – The morning will be spent cruising. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Bratislava will introduce you to the city. The charm of the Slovakian capital lies in its old city: splendid Baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares.
We’ll cruise to Dürnstein after our day in Bratislava. (Cruise Meals)

April 25 – Durnstein to Melk – We’ll then set off on an excursion to Dürnstein, the fortified village where Richard the Lionheart was once held prisoner. Afterwards, we’ll cruise to Melk by crossing the wonderful Wachau Valley. In the afternoon, discover Melk Abbey. Originally a Baroque-style palace built between 1702 and 1736, it is now a Benedictine monastery that hosts a prestigious coed school with more than 900 students. We’ll cruise to Linz this evening. April 26 – Linz to Prague – Welcome back to Linz where the cruise ends. Following a tasty breakfast, sit back and transfer to Prague! This city avoided the destruction of World War II and the beautiful old buildings are a testimony to that. Overnight in Prague. (Breakfast)

April 27 – Prague – Drive into the countryside today to tour Terezin concentration camp and reflect on the lessons learned during World War II. Later it’s back to Prague for free time and to overnight. (Breakfast)

April 28 – Prague – Today an expert guide will take you on a full day tour of Prague. A must-see that is included is the Prague Castle. You will fall in love with this amazing city. (Breakfast)

April 29 – Fly out from Prague this morning and arrive back in Los Angeles later this afternoon with time to connect to flights back to your home city. Welcome home!

He and his wife, Ida Mae, live in Ogden, Utah and are the proud parents of four sons.  Alan’s love in life is to see the world with incredible people and to share his knowledge of travel with all of his groups.
