Cruising the Blue Danube – June 4-15, 2015

June 4 – Fly from your home city to Munich, Germany.
June 5 – Arrive in Munich, Germany and transfer to Salzburg, Austria with some light sightseeing along the way. Overnight in Salzburg where a welcome dinner will be waiting. (D)
June 6 – Salzburg! – Welcome to the birthplace of Mozart as well as the setting for filming part of the Sound of Music. This beautifully preserved city is known for its incredible baroque architecture. A sightseeing tour of Salzburg is included today before you will be transferred to your river cruise ship in Linz. Boarding at 4.00pm in Linz and settling into your cabin. Departure of the cruise for Vienna at 6.00pm. Presentation of the crew during the welcome dinner and evening on board. (B, Cruise Meals)
June 7 – Vienna – Arrival early in the morning. Breakfast on board. In the morning, tour of Schoenbrunn castle, summer residence of the imperial family and part of Vienna, imperial city and cradle of music. Back to the boat for lunch. This afternoon visit to the Hofburg, the Habsburg Palace houses the sumptuous imperial apartments. Back to the boat for dinner. Followed by a tour of Vienna by night. Departure of the boat during the night for Budapest. (Cruise Meals)
June 8 – Budapest – Morning’s sailing. We will reach Budapest after lunch. In the afternoon, guided tour of Budapest, the belle époque city par excellence, the incarnation of the sharp contrast between twin cities divided by the Danube and united since 1872. You will discover: haughty Buda with its winding streets, its baroque palaces, its Turkish bath establishments and its royal palace. And bustling Pest, which offers a proud mixture of architectural styles. Back on board for dinner followed by an evening of “operetta music” on board. Overnight stopover. (Cruise Meals)
June 9 – Budapest – After breakfast, excursion to the Puszta. Also called the Great Plain, in the 19th century, this vast prairie was the Wild West of Hungary and immense herds of livestock grazed here under the watchful eye of the cowboys. Typical lunch. We will rejoin the boat at the end of the day. Departure of the cruise at around 6.00pm. Dinner on board. Sailing at night. (Cruise Meals)
June 10 – Bratislava – Morning’s sailing. We will reach Bratislava at around noon. Lunch on board. In the afternoon, guided tour of Bratislava. Dominated to the north by the slopes of the southern point of the Small Carpathians, bathed by the Danube, Bratislava occupies a privileged geographical site. The charm of the Slovakian capital lies in its old city: splendid Baroque palaces, churches and pleasant squares. Back on board at the end of the afternoon and continuation of the cruise to Dürnstein. Gala dinner on board, followed by dancing. (Cruise Meals)
June 11 – Durnstein – Melk – Breakfast on board and arrival of the boat in Dürnstein at around 9.00am, which you will explore with your hostess. The town, steeped in the legend of Richard the Lionheart, contains an astonishing abbey, glittering with light blue and white, which has one of the most beautiful Baroque bell towers in all Austria. Back on board for lunch and departure for Melk. Crossing the wonderful Wachau where Gothic ruins alternate with picturesque villages. The mildness of the climate here is conducive to wine and apricot production. Arrival in Melk at around 2.00pm. Guided tour of the Benedictine abbey of Melk. You will be able to admire the Baroque marble hall, library and abbey church. Back on board, dinner and continuation of the cruise to Linz. (Cruise Meals)
June 12 – Linz – Prague – Breakfast on the ship before disembarkation. Today sit back and relax on a scenic drive to Prague which is the capital of the Czech Republic. Free time in Prague followed by a dinner at the hotel. (B, D)
June 13 – Prague – Travelers love to visit Prague. It is a beautiful city full of museums, architecture and charming people. It was ranked in the top 5 of best destinations to visit by Tripadvisor in 2014. A full day sightseeing tour is included today. (B,D)
June 14 – Prague – The day is yours to relax, explore or shop in Prague. (B)
June 15 – Transfer to the airport for your flight home. What an adventure it has been!
