Norway Cruise & Ireland Tour – May 18-June 1, 2018

A unique itinerary is coming your way in May of 2018. Start with a cruise throughout Norway and the beautiful Norwegian fjords. At the end of your cruise, the ship will stop in Scotland before ending in Dublin, Ireland. Once back in Ireland, get ready for a fantastic land tour full of beautiful scenery and exciting culture.

Itinerary:

**Shore excursions during the cruise portion of the trip are not included and options will be forthcoming closer to the trip departure date.

May 18 – Travel to Los Angeles and board a non-stop flight to Dublin, Ireland this evening.

May 19 – Welcome to Dublin, Ireland! You will be met at the airport and taken straight to your hotel where you can rest and spend the night.

May 20 – The morning is free before transferring to your cruise ship, the Celebrity Eclipse. Spend time exploring the ship and enjoying some tasty food. The ship sets sail late this afternoon from Dublin. (Breakfast, Cruise Meals)

May 21 – Enjoy a relaxing day at sea. (Cruise Meals)

May 22 – Bergen, Norway – Bergen’s rugged glacial scenery, forested mountains and charming medieval architecture inspire artists and visitors. Set among seven mountains, this Norwegian port dates back to 1070 and grew wealthy in the Middle Ages. (Cruise Meals)

May 23 – Skjolden, Norway – Soak up the expansive landscapes in Skjolden, a village in the middle of Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. The blend of greenery, glaciers and waterfalls surrounding this picturesque village are sure to invigorate. (Cruise Meals)

May 24 – Geiranger, Norway – Considered the most beautiful in Norway, the Geirangerfjord astonishes with its power and beauty. There are various way to experience this natural wonder: hiking, kayaking, biking or enjoying the views from a high mountain summit. (Cruise Meals)

May 25 – Alesund, Norway – Even if you’ve never heard of Art Nouveau, the signature architectural style is only part of the appeal of this village of small islands and canals. A charming harbor, towering fjords and mountains complete the picturesque setting. (Cruise Meals)

May 26 – Lerwick/Shetland, Scotland – Shetland’s only town, Lerwick is a bustling, cosmopolitan seaport with services and amenities only found in much larger places on the British mainland. The extensive leisure and entertainment facilities provide warm hospitality to visitors. The old waterfront is thronged with pleasure boats, visiting yachts, historic craft and working fishing boats. May 27 – Enjoy a relaxing day at sea. (Cruise Meals)

May 28Ireland – Welcome back to Dublin, Ireland. Your cruise ends this morning and you will disembark.
This morning travel to beautiful Glendalough in Co. Wicklow. For thousands of years people have been drawn to ‘the valley of the two lakes‘ for its spectacular scenery, rich history, archaeology and abundant wildlife. Glendalough is a remarkable place that will still your mind, inspire your heart and fill your soul. Next stop is Powerscourt House & Gardens in Co. Wicklow is one of the world’s great gardens and is located 20km south of Dublin City Centre. Set against the backdrop of the great Sugarloaf Mountain, Powerscourt is stunning in every season. May 29Ireland – After full Irish breakfast meet your driver/guide at the hotel reception and continue touring Emerald Isle. First stop, Kilkenny Castle stands dramatically on a strategic height that commands a crossing on the River Nore and dominates the ‘High Town’ of Kilkenny City. Over the eight centuries of its existence, many additions and alterations have been made to the fabric of the building, making Kilkenny Castle today a complex structure of various architectural styles.
Next stop is the Blarney Castle, which was built nearly six hundred years ago by one of Ireland’s greatest chieftans, Cormac MacCarthy, and has been attracting attention ever since. Over the last few hundred years, millions have flocked to Blarney making it a world landmark and one of Ireland’s greatest treasures. Overnight in Killarney. (Breakfast)

May 30 Ireland – Continue to breath-taking Ring of Kerry. As part of the Wild Atlantic Way, the Ring of Kerry (or Iveragh Peninsula to give it its correct name) is the Kerry tourist trail – the mystical & unspoiled region of Ireland that has attracted visitors for hundreds of years. The scenery today will be spectacular. (Breakfast)

May 31Ireland – Travel to majestic Cliffs of Moher. Standing 214m (702 feet) at their highest point they stretch for 8 kilometres (5 miles) along the Atlantic coast of County Clare in the west of Ireland. From the Cliffs of Moher on a clear day one can see the Aran Islands and Galway Bay, as well as the Twelve Pins and the Maum Turk mountains in Connemara, Loop Head to the south and the Dingle Peninsula and Blasket Islands in Kerry. O’Brien’s Tower stands near the highest point and has served as a viewing point for visitors for hundreds of years. Continue to Doolin traditionally a fishing village, Doolin is now renowned world-wide as the traditional music capital of Ireland. Home to thousands of international visitors each year, Doolin is many things to many people. For some it is a place to experience rousing music sessions nightly in the pub and for others it is a place of solitude and tranquility where one can refresh their spirits away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life. A farewell dinner is included tonight. (Breakfast, Dinner)

June 1 – The morning is free to relax before heading to the airport midday for your non-stop flight back to Los Angeles where you will arrive this evening.

Bill graduated from Brigham Young University in Political Science and then went on to graduate with the second graduating class of the J. Reuben Clark Law School. He was employed with the Davis County Attorney’s Office for 34 years where he worked as a prosecutor for 30 years and ended his career in the Civil Division of the office. Bill is an avid sports enthusiast whose main passion is golf. Diana is a graduate of Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics and a Master’s Degree in Nutritional Science. She spent almost 30 years teaching in the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Science Department at BYU, as both a Professor and the Director of the Dietetic Internship Program. Having recently retired, she now spends time on her other passions: piano, violin (just recently!), and being Nana. Bill and Diana have enjoyed traveling to various parts of the world and deem their five children and fifteen grandchildren to be their greatest accomplishments.
