February 19 – Depart from Los Angeles on an afternoon flight to Cairo, Egypt!

February 20 – Welcome to Cairo, Egypt! For 5000 years, this country and culture has mystified and intrigued the world. Upon arriving, check in to your hotel for some much needed rest. (Dinner)

February 21 – After breakfast you will have an experience to remember at the Great Pyramids of Giza. This is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world. With the ancient Sphinx protecting the Great Pyramids, one can only imagine the overwhelming effort to construct these glorious monuments of man. Later visit the Egyptian Museum where magnificent artifacts from ancient Egypt have been gathered and displayed in over 100 rooms. Like a captivation novel, the museum unfolds the history and glory of this land. View mummified remains of Great Pharaohs. Well preserved scrolls of papyrus, and the opulent treasures of King Tutankhamen. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 22 – This morning visit the Ancient capital of Upper Egypt, Memphis. View the great alabaster figure of Ramesses and the Alabaster Sphinx. Nearby visit the oldest pyramid complex of the ancient world, the step pyramid of Sakkara. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 23 – This morning we fly to Aswan. Upon arrival, enjoy a day tour to the Phaile temple and the High Dam. Embarkation on your luxurious Nile River cruise ship. Take an afternoon trip to the Nubian village where we enjoy the commentary on the Beduine history. Also today, a felucca (traditional wooden sail boat) ride around the Agha Khan Mausoleum. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 24 – Early this morning depart for a drive out in the desert to see the greatest monument in Egypt, Abu Simbel. This was the first site on earth listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This great temple, dedicated to Ramesses was hewn out of the rock to the depth of 210 feet! Overwhelming! Upon arrival back in Aswan board our ship and sail to Kom Umbo. Arrive at a beautiful temple complex of Kom Ombo. Dinner and overnight at Edfu. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 25 – This morning visit the temple of Edfu. Afterwards, continue sailing on the Nile and enjoy lunch. Later visit the west bank of the Nile. As you enter the Valley of the Kings you will be greeted by the Colossi of Memnon which even overwhelmed the great Emperor Hadrian. In the Valley of the Kings you will have the chance to enter three grand tombs of the Pharaohs and see the burial chambers and glorious hieroglyphics on the walls to assist the dead into the afterlife. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 26 – Breakfast and disembarkation. Visit the Luxor Temple. This grand temple complex includes the Great Temple of Amun with its Hypostyle Hall of 134 sandstone columns which are 80 feet high. Breathtaking!!! Continue to the second temple complex on the banks of the Nile River, the Karnak Temple. Take a flight back to Cairo. A visit to the Great Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali and the great Citadel overlooking the City of the Dead is also planned. This is the largest and most breathtaking mosque in Egypt. Depart on flight later today to Jordan where you will overnight. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 27 – Today we will visit St. George’s Cathedral in Madaba, where the 6th century mosaic map is displayed. This is one of the oldest maps of the Holy Land existing. Next on to Mt. Nebo, the place where Moses is believed to be buried, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Jordan Valley. Tradition states that it was here that Moses had his first view of the Holy Land. We will visit the Church of Mt Nebo which has well preserved mosaics that date back to the Byzantine era. We will then travel to overnight in Petra. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

February 28 – This morning we will begin our quest of the Valley of Petra. When we arrive at the gates of Petra we will be met by horses that will take us to the entrance of the Siq. From there we will walk through a narrow slot canyon to finally see our first views of the wondrous royal tombs of Petra. This is truly one of the greatest wonders on earth! After our visit here, we will travel to and cross the border at Eilat, Israel. Its sandy beaches and coral reefs are the most pristine on the Red Sea. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 1 – This morning wake up and enjoy a free morning at the Red Sea. Drive north through the Dead Sea basin. Here you will understand the reason this area was a refuge to prophets, zealots, and outcasts throughout time. From the desert floor ascend by cable car to the spectacular cliff-top fortress of Masada, where a community of over 900 Jews preferred death at their own swords to the indignity of surrender to the overwhelming Roman forces. Next check into your hotel on the banks of the Dead sea and after dinner enjoy a floating experience in the saltiest body of water on earth. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 2 – Overview the miraculous discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls at Qumran. This afternoon sing Christmas hymns as you visit the little town of Bethlehem and the Church of the Nativity. Shepherds still tend their flocks on the hillsides overlooking this city of all cities, the birthplace of the Savior. This is a visit never to be forgotten. Late in the afternoon ascend the hills to have your fist view of the city of gold, Jerusalem. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 3 – Start your day at the Western Wall, the rough, massive stone retaining wall of the 2nd Temple. Revered and honored, the Jews wait and pray for the day they will rebuild their final temple upon these sacred remnants. Above the wall on Mt. Moriah is the Islamic shrine, the Dome of the Rock. You will next enter the oldest quarter of Jerusalem to visit the Pools of Bethesda, the Via Dolorosa with its stations of the cross, leading to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 4 – Today discover the treasures of the Israel Museum and the Shrine of the Book, which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls and the stunning Model City of Old Jerusalem. One of the most moving sites to visit is Yad Veshem, the official memorial to the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust during WWII. End your day with a visit to Mt. Zion to see Caiphas’s house of Judgement and the nearby Upper Room. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 5 – Start the day off with a visit to the Garden of Gethsemane at the base of the Mt. of Olives. Here envision the momentous event of the atonement which took place here. Next visit the remarkable BYU Jerusalem Center. The full length windows of the chapel reveal a breath taking view of the old city and the Temple Mount. Next at the beautiful Garden Tomb, there is a limestone hill, which many revere as Golgotha, site of the crucifixion. Just steps from the hill enter an ancient tomb that perhaps was the final resting place for the mortal remains of the Savior. Here the glorious resurrection occurred for all of us. Overnight in Jerusalem. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 6 – Today depart Jerusalem to travel north to the fertile valley of the Sea of Galilee. You will follow the Jordan River Valley to your first stop at Bet She’an, the largest Roman ruin site in Israel. It was here that King Saul of the Old Testament was killed and his body was fastened to the city wall by the conquering Philistine armies. Next stop at Yardenit, a beautiful site on the Jordan River where people from all over the world gather to remember the baptism of Christ by John. Now enjoy your first view of the Sea of Galilee. Overnight at a kibbutz on the shores of this beautiful lake surrounded by so much spiritual history. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 7 – Mt Tabor is one of the traditional sites claimed to be the site of the transfiguration. Here you will review the events leading up to that glorious event. Next to the Mt. of Beatitudes where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. Nearby is Capernaum, where many miracles were performed. End your day sailing on the Sea of Galilee remembering the Great Fisherman of men teaching his disciples eternal truths. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 8 – Begin the day with a morning devotional about the greatest announcement given to man, in Nazareth, “For unto you a child is born…”. Here Christ will spend his childhood and “grew and waxed strong in spirit’. Not far away is Megiddo, the site of ancient bloody battles. Upon these same fields, the great and terrible last battle of Armageddon will be fought. Ascend Mt. Carmel where the prophet Elijah and the priests of Baal contested their faith. Enter Caesarea, remains of a city founded by Herod, residence of Pontius Pilate and prison for the apostle Paul. Here he will preach and almost convert Felix to almost become a Christian. Late this afternoon visit the city of Joppa with its history of Jonah, and also Peter’s great vision to take the gospel to all the world. Overnight in the Joppa/ Tel Aviv area (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

March 9 – Depart the Holy Land today with sacred memories that will last a lifetime.
