Tour Itinerary:

August 21 – Depart Las Vegas early afternoon for your flight to Brazil.

August 22 – Arrive at Iguacu Falls, Brazil midday. After the journey to Brazil, our English-speaking guides will take us to our hotel where we will begin our trip with warm showers and a good night’s sleep.

August 23 – In the morning get ready to see the magnificent Iguaçu Falls. When Eleanor Roosevelt visited the Falls of Iguaçu she said, “Poor Niagra!” When you visit it you will say, “Wow!” In the afternoon take an optional Macuco Safari Boat Ride, which starts with a pleasant guided tour on a wagon towed by electric jeep through the jungle down to the Iguaçu River with our multi-lingual guides, and then hang on for a zooming powerboat ride upriver toward the Garganta do Diabo (the Devil’s Throat). Forget about the plastic raincoats they offer; you are gonna get soaked! (Breakfast)

August 24 – Enjoy another full day exploring Iguacu Falls and getting excellent pictures of it. The nearby dam is also a scheduled stop. (Breakfast)

August 25 – After breakfast, relax for a little bit before heading to the airport. Fly from Brazil to Johannesburg, South Africa. (Breakfast)

August 26 – Welcome to South Africa this morning. Today there will be free time and the option to attend church services if interested.

August 27 – Our day begins at the Lesedi Cultural Village, where we will be introduced to the diverse native tribes of South Africa. The discovery begins at the Ndebele village where the introduction to the cultural experience precedes a multi-media presentation on the history and origins of today’s rainbow nation. This is followed by a guided tour of the other four ethnic homesteads – the Zulu, Basotho, Xhosa and Pedi tribes will be represented. Tribal show is included. Following the cultural village, sit back and relax through the gorgeous African countryside as you transfer up to the Kruger Park Area. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, enjoy dinner and get ready to safari! (Breakfast, Dinner)

August 28 – Breakfast at the hotel. Start the day with a beautiful panoramic tour including a view to God’s Window with its beautiful Waterfall. God’s Window majestic cliffs plunge over 1/2 mile to the Lowveld and the game reserves which have made the area one of Africa’s prime wildlife destinations. From this vantage point a 150 mile long rampart of sheer cliffs – opens a vista into a plush forest. On a clear day it is possible to see over the Kruger National Park towards the Lebombo Mountains on the border with Mozambique. This afternoon, get ready for your first safari experience on an afternoon/early evening game drive in Kruger Park. The animals are waiting! (Breakfast, Dinner)

August 29 – Full day Safari in 4 x 4 vehicles with a professional game ranger. Kruger National Park is one of the largest game reserves in Africa. All the big five (lion, elephant, water buffalo, leopard, and rhino) are found here. Here we will experience the Africa that we have long dreamed of. (Breakfast, Dinner)

August 30 – Another morning exploring Kruger with its birds, rhinos, impalas, wildebeest, leopards, hippos and so much more. Later today transfer back to Johannesburg where you will spend the night. There will be a nice shopping stop to get your souvenirs from South Africa. (Breakfast)

Your Host: Stan and KK Ellis

For this Idaho farm boy, my first international travel was in 1964 as a seventeen year old high school student who was selected to be an AFS exchange student to Brazil. I was blessed to live with the Pasqualin family of São Paulo for the summer. Their English was so good I didn’t learn much Portuguese, but I gained a love for Brazilians and Brazil. That prompted me to take a Portuguese class during my freshman year at Harvard.
Our love for Africa began in 2014 and has grown from then. During those three years we lived in Johannesburg, South Africa, and worked from Afghanistan to Cape Town, from Tanzania to Gabon, and from Mauritius to Namibia. In other words, most of southern, central, and eastern Africa, plus islands of the Indian Ocean. We fell in love with the people, the beautiful land, and the amazing wildlife.
We love to travel. We have enjoyed getting to know many parts of the world. Our most memorable was our seven and a half month trip around the world in 1972-73. We took the year off from school between college and law school, packed up our oldest daughter who was almost two years old when we started, and set off. Our itinerary included Puerto Rico, British Virgin Islands (primarily Tortola), Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Israel, India, Nepal, Hong Kong, China, Japan, and Hawaii.
Cruises are one of our favorite things. We have been blessed to cruise a number of times in the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Baltic, Alaska, Hawaii, and on the Amazon.
