October 11 – An afternoon flight will take you from Los Angeles down to Lima, Peru where you will overnight.

October 12 – Welcome to Cusco, Peru! Upon arrival in Cusco, check-in to the hotel followed by a tour of the Cusco cathedral and also Koricancha which was the most important temple in the Inca Empire. Overnight in Cusco. (Breakfast)

October 13 – Sit back as you are transferred to the Sacred Valley with a visit to Awnacancha and Cochahuasi along the way to learn about local culture. Explore the beautiful Peruvian countryside with a tour of the magical Sacred Valley. First, you will visit the town of Pisac, famous for its bustling market. Here you will have the opportunity to browse the beautiful handicrafts and Andean garments displayed for sale.
Next, you will visit the impressive ruins of Ollantaytambo. These magnificent ancient ruins serve as great vantage points to look out over the valley. Originally the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti during the Inca Empire, this site later served as a stronghold for Manco Inca Yupanqui in the Inca’s final rebellion against the Spanish.
Take a short train ride to Aguas Calientes which sits at the base of Machu Picchu and is where you will overnight. (Breakfast, Lunch)

peru8October 14 – As you experienced yesterday, the train ride to Machu Picchu and back is an attraction in itself, as much of the path winds along the river and mountain face, offering passengers dramatic views of the Andes. The foliage dramatically changes as the train approaches the meeting point of the Andes and the Amazon rainforest, providing visitors with a real sense of Peru’s diverse geography.
This morning, head to the bus station in Aguas Calientes for a 20-minute ride up to the secluded citadel of Machu Picchu. Meet your expert English-speaking guide for a tour of the most important sites in Machu Picchu, including the Intihuatana (Sun Stone), the Sun Temple, and the Room of Three Windows. You will be able to appreciate the intricate stonework of this amazing site. The giant stones were hauled by hand to the top of the mountain centuries ago, and yet their foundations still remain. After your tour, you have the option to explore more of the site on your own and capture some final photos. Later in the afternoon, you will take a comfortable train ride to Cusco where you’ll be taken to your hotel to spend the night. (Breakfast)

peru83October 15 – Your exploration of Cusco takes place today with an expert-guided city tour. You will visit many of the amazing archaeological sites and wonders in and around the city, including the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Q’enko, Puka Pukara, and Tambomachay. Overnight in Cusco.  (Breakfast)

October 16 –  Enjoy some free time in Cusco today to shop and explore. There is so much to see and do in this unique place. Even just sitting in the city square and watching all that is happening around you is a memorable experience. Late this afternoon, transfer to the airport tonight for your overnight flight back to the USA. (Breakfast)

October 17 – Welcome back to the USA!
