Brazil South Mission Reunion Temple Tour – May 1-11, 2018

Join us on a Brazil trip for the price of regular airfares alone! This trip adds a nostalgic return to Brazil, the land where some served as missionaries in their youth, to “matar saudades” (overcome longings) with the kind and easy-going people they came to love.  Yes, it is a cultural adventure like no other, from the land of Samba, Bossa Nova, and all-you-can-eat barbecue buffets. Join us!

*Book early – price will go up once special airfare sale ends!

Tour Itinerary:

May 1 – Depart Las Vegas at noon time for your flight to Brazil.

May 2 – Foz do Iguaçu – Arrive at Iguacu Falls, Brazil in the early afternoon. After a long day and night of travel our English-speaking guides will take us to our hotel where we will welcome warm showers and a good night’s sleep. (Breakfast)

May 3 – Foz Do Iguaçu –In the morning get ready to see the magnificent Iguaçu Falls. When Eleanor Roosevelt visited the Falls of Iguaçu she said, “Poor Niagra!” When you visit it you will say, “Wow!” In the afternoon take an optional Macuco Safari Boat Ride, which starts with a pleasant guided tour on a wagon towed by electric jeep through the jungle down to the Iguaçu River with our multi-lingual guides, and then hang on for a zooming powerboat ride upriver toward the Garganta do Diabo (the Devil’s Throat). Forget about the plastic raincoats they offer; you are gonna get soaked! And you are going to love it! (Breakfast)

May 4 – Curitiba – Very early morning flight to Curitiba, capital of the state of Paraná, located on a plateau 3,000 feet above sea level. Upon arrival take a city tour while seeing the iconic Parana Pines, unique to these southern Brazilian states, on the verdant horizon as we travel. Curitiba is a model city with a city bus system and parks and greenbelts envied by city planners worldwide. See the Botanical Gardens and other parks dedicated to the Polish and Ukrainians, the Slavic settlers who came here in the 19th Century. (Breakfast)

May 5 –Curitiba– After a typical buffet breakfast at our hotel, enjoy a visit to the beautiful Curitiba Temple, erected in 2008. (Breakfast)

May 6 – Curitiba – Morning church services and this evening we have an opportunity to meet with Brazilian saints in a missionary reunion fireside. (Breakfast)

May 7 – Porto Alegre – Very early flight to Porto Alegre. This is “gaúcho country”—the cowboy south of Brazil—and its capital city of Porto Alegre where missionaries rode “bonde” streetcars until 1970. Today it is home to two mission headquarters and the beautiful Porto Alegre Temple, a light on a hill. Don’t be surprised if we dine on Brazil’s famous “churrascaria” meats here in Rio Grande do Sul state, where the famous Brazilian beef is raised. Enjoy a half day tour of the city upon arrival. (Breakfast)

May 8– Porto Alegre – This morning we will visit to the Porto Alegre Temple. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to reunite with old friends or explore more of the city on your own. (Breakfast)

May 9– Sao Paulo– Morning flight to Sao Paulo. Next stop is the most populous city in Brazil. After stopping at our hotel we will head out to explore Sao Paulo. Keep your eyes open for several of the tallest skyscrapers in Brazil, although they will be hard to miss. Being one of the most diverse cities to visit, the city is full of culture and beauty. A main tourist attraction is the world- class restaurants and there are over 12,000 dining options to choose from. (Breakfast)

May 10– Sao Paulo –This morning we will attend the Sao Paulo temple. The Sao Paulo temple was the first temple built in South America, and the first to use a single story, single spire design. Before boarding our flight in the evening, you have the afternoon to keep discovering Sao Paulo. Three temples in one trip, wow! Evening departure from Sao Paulo back to Las Vegas. (Breakfast)

May 11 – Arrive back in the USA! Morning arrival back in Las Vegas. Welcome home!.
