Shopping in New York City with Alicia Richmond – September 11-16, 2012

Get ready to shop until you drop with shopping guru Alicia Richmond.  Every year Alicia takes a group of shoppers to New York for sightseeing, shopping and fun!  Come find out where all the best spots are to shop and come experience out of this work sightseeing!

Itinerary:

September 11 – Overnight flight to New York City with a morning arrival.

September 12 – “Start spreading the News…We’re Leaving Today!” Arrive in America’s most exciting metropolis, New York City, for a getaway that’s filled with shopping, sightseeing, and entertainment opportunities. Your comfortable accommodations are at the Empire Hotel which is centrally located for shopping and the theatre district. Times Square and the Broadway Theatre district, Rockefeller Center, and Fifth Avenue are just a short stroll from your hotel.

After our red-eye flight we will drop our bags at the hotel. If you choose to enjoy a stop at Ground Zero this afternoon, we will have group tickets. New York City has so much to offer and today and you get to plan your own activities in this exciting city. Popular events and attractions include: taking the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and/or Ellis Island, walking across the Brooklyn Bridge, enjoy a carriage ride in Central Park, take the back stage tour of Radio City Music Hall, take a double-decker bus tour of the city, attend a matinee performance at one of Broadways theatres, tour the NBC Studios, do some more shopping, or visit one of the many great museums the city has to offer (The Metropolitan Museum, The Museum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art, The Frick Museum, The Guggenheim Museum, plus many more). There is so much to see and do in the city. Have Fun!

This evening you will have at your leisure to explore or relax in the “City That Never Sleeps.”
Alicia will assist you with recommendations on how to spend the evening in NYC. A visit to the observation floor at the Empire State Building for the view of New York City’s skyline is spectacular at night!

September 13 - The fun begins in New York City with attending the possible taping of a national talk show (choices include: The Revolution (ABC), The Chew (ABC), Dr. OZ or Rachel Ray. (The taping is subject to availability) After the taping is completed, we are heading to lunch at one of Alicia’s favorite restaurants Serendipity. The best thing on the menu is the frozen hot chocolate and Oprah agrees! Fun shopping next door at the most famous candy store in the city, Dylan’s Candy bar. Next we will head to the fashionable Fifth Avenue. You will find some of the most elite and luxurious shops in all of New York on Avenue. However, the shopping district does offer some fabulous affordable shops that Alicia will advise you of while on tour. While on Fifth Avenue you may wish to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Rockefeller Center.

After a day of shopping, your evening is free to take a bite out of “The Big Apple.” You may want to attend a Broadway performance, enjoy a scenic harbor cruise around Manhattan Island and past the Statue of Liberty, or continue shopping! Popular Broadway productions now playing include: Wicked, Lion King, Jersey Boys, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Rock of Ages, War Horse, The Book of Mormon, Mary Poppins, Spider-Man, Chicago, Memphis, Anything Goes and many more.

September 14- This morning is a special treat that is only available to our group.The original Macy’s at Herald Square is giving our group the VIP treatment. We are starting the day in the Macy’s restaurant for breakfast and fashion show featuring fall’s latest styles. Next, we will be able to enjoy a private shopping experience before the store opens. Let Alicia help you pick out some pieces to build your fall wardrobe. Did I mention that Macy’s has two entire floors of shoes?? You will love today. We will stay at Macy’s for lunch at the Cellar. After we are finished we will shop around the Herald Square area or you can visit the Empire State Building which is next door to Macy’s.

This evening the curtains rise for a remarkable Broadway show which is included in your getaway package. We are delighted to offer orchestra seating at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the production of “Ghost,” which is a new musical based on the Academy Award winning movie. If you loved the love story of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze then will enjoy the music and dancing of this explosive Broadway musical. Get ready to experience Broadway’s most exciting new destination……GHOST!

September 15 - New York City is simply a shopper’s paradise! Get ready for some bargain shopping as today you join Alicia Richmond on a New York City shopping spree. To maximize your shopping time today, transportation will be provided with a private motor coach. Today Alicia has arranged for you to start the day at a popular discount store which is located in the financial district near Wall Street and Ground Zero. Today’s shopping spree also includes Chinatown which is famous for knockoff’s galore and Asian delights. If time permits you will briefly visit to the popular neighborhoods such as SoHo, Chelsea, and Nolita where the celebrities do their shopping for their up to date fashions. Enjoy your day!

This evening is free to take a harbor cruise around The Statue of Liberty, dine in one of the cities famous restaurants, or see another Broadway play. Visit with Alicia for some restaurant recommendations, popular night-life hot spots, or have fun in Times Square.

September 16 - Today is your day to do as you desire before your flight home. You may wish to do some last minute shopping, attend worship services of your choice, go out for Sunday brunch, take a stroll in Central Park, tour the United Nations building, or visit a nearby museum. Enjoy your day!
